Football-Gambia convenes press conference

Football Gambia on Friday convened a press conference on issues to train and develop Gambian sports. Football Gambia is an agency based in the United Kingdom but has an office in The Gambia headed by Yahya Manneh who gave a brief explanation about their one week programme.


Speaking at the meeting, Yahya Manneh the country representative for Football Gambia explained that the one-week programme is basically for Sitanunku Village, adding that their first project is the fencing of the village football field while they also held a two-night coaches training at the village. He said they have also donated some items to the settlements of the Kombo area among which were the Gambia Technical Teaching Institution (GTTI) whose safety workshop was given almost 400 jackets; he added that they also donated items to some Nursery Schools.


Manneh said Sweaters, balls, puzzles etc were donated to Royal International School in (Lamin) adding that they also donated football materials to 65 coaches at the Lower and Upper Nuimi districts valued at D75,000 and handsome materials to Sitanunku Academy. He said that they also helped Mansa Maru Nursery School in (Bundung) together with Sunrise Nursery School in (Tallinding) respectively.


Ian Stapleton, founder Football Gambia FA level 2 outfields and goalkeeper in his remarks said 20 people came from UK to The Gambia and raised money and help to spend it on school uniforms.
