Forestry Ministry imposes new conditions on logs for re-exportThursday, May 24, 2012 The Ministry of Forestry and the Environment on behalf of its technical Department of Forestry and in collaboration with Forest Users Association has announced that effective May 25th, 2012, new conditions will be applied on logs for re-export in The Gambia. According to a media release issued yesterday by MoFEN, effective May 25th, all logs that are imported and meant for re-export are not allowed to enter The Gambia beyond Kalagi and Barra villages. It further added that any vehicle or conveyer that is found entering The Gambia beyond the designated entry point (Kalagi and Barra) will not be accepted. “The wood and the conveyer will be confiscated and the culprit be taken to law and we urge all and sundry to abide to the conditions given,” the release concluded.
