Thursday, August 13, 2009
Four accused persons were recently arraigned before Justice Joseph Wowo of the High Court in Banjul on murder charges.

The four, Alpha Joof, Ebou Demba Sowe Abdoulie Senghore and Samba Jagne Joof alleged to have murdered one Sheriff David Mendy. During cross examination by Defence Counsel Lawyer Sheriff Tambedou, prosecution witness, Corporal Lamin Jabang intimated the court that whilst he was at the station he received a report that the victim was suspected of being knocked by a vehicle.

Corporal Jabang said upon receiving the report, he recorded it in the station dairy. When asked the victim was found lying, Corporal Jabang replied in Nlena Njago village. Corporal Jabang informed the court that the victim was found lying on the road, but was taking to Esau health centre where he was confirmed dead but cannot remember the time of his death.

Hearing continues on October 7, 2009.
