Young Saikou Barrow is a mogul in the making. Soft spoken and self assured, he projects a reassuring aura of confidence and professionalism in his well tailored business suit.

He comes across even to strangers as an achiever. Someone who knows what he wants from life and how to go about getting it; the mark of a person well on the road to success. Barrow is not the only one with this kind of persona.

Such people come in their multitudes. But not all have the substance to back it up. Saikou Barrow is someone who has. The young man, a product of the National Youth Service Scheme, is the general manager of his own enterprise, Microtech Computing and Wireless Solutions Limited.

Barrow was part of the first batch of students to enroll in the youth service scheme. He was a corps member from 1996 to 1998. From the NYSS, he proceeded to the Atlantic Computer Training Institute in Ghana where he studied database administration, network administration and programme.

Upon his return to The Gambia, he decided to set up his own business in 2002. His company currently has a staff of five but is fast expanding and is expected to grow into a force to be reckoned with. "I want to take the company to higher heights," he says with quiet confidence.
The company, based in Banjul provides IT-related services to various companies and hotels in the Greater Banjul.

Like many other small business, it is faced with a myriad of challenges, chief amongst which is finance. The young executive is however, dexterously manoeuvring to steer his company through the woods albeit eager to state their need for assistance.

"We need the support of the general public," he states. And how can that support be rendered? Well, by patronising his sprouting company, of course! Who knows, you might be doing business with a future Forbes 100 company!
