Ministry of Basic and Secondary Educationhas released the results of the 2012 Gambia Basic Education Certificate
Examinations (GABECE)with a total
of 29 candidates scoring aggregate 6, showing an increase of 8. A media dispatch from the Ministry revealed that the total number of candidates who entered for the examination was 21, 096 students of which 10, 293 are male and 10, 803 are female. The release went further to give the list of schools whose students scored aggregate 6 saying-10 are from Gambia Methodist Academy; 4 from SOS Herman Gmeiner; 3 from Charlse Jaw Academy; 3 from St Theresa’s, Kanifing; 2 from Latrikunda, 1 from Abuko; 1 from Brikama; 1 from Brikama Methodist, 1 from Keneba; 1 from Kombo Kerewan; 1 from Latrikunda Sabiji and 1 from St Augustine. Admission to Grade 10, the release went on, should be based on passes in the core subjects to be decided by board of governors and not exceeding aggregate 42.
