Friday, September 07, 2012

Gam lyric magazine, a popular radio show at the Gunjur radio Janneh Koto FM that features Gambian Artists will celebrate its 1st anniversary in grand style tomorrow Saturday the 8th at the Gunjur preschool ground. The launching will also see the performance of popular Gambian Artists like, Heart Breaker, Badibunka, Bala Ranks, Benjamin, Phylan among of a host of other Artists.

In an interview with What’s On, DJ Melo of Gah Sound Promotion who is the presenter and producer of the show, disclosed that, the event is geared towards promoting our own Gambian musicians, adding that it cannot all be done at the radio level there is need to extend the show.

His words “the show at the radio is done in such a way that, listeners call in and sing a song of their favorite Artist which is later on played for them. It is usually an interactive show wherein I have interviews with various Artists who talk to their fans and tell more about themselves.” He stated.

The event according to the producer will be an opportunity for some of the Artists who have never been to Gunjur to meet their fans and attract more. It will also expose them and create a platform for them to show case their talents more to the Southerners. “We have a role to play as DJs in promoting and preserving our culture through giving our support to the Gambian Artists and to expose them to the world”. He finally urged the artists to work harder and maintain peace, love and unity in our beloved land, while assuring them of the Medias support.
