Gambia braces up for "Fest Jaamo concert 2009"

As the nation braces up for the 'Fest Jammo Concert 2009, first of its kind in the history of The Gambia, the mega musical explosive concert is scheduled to take place on Christmas day, December 25th at the Dream Park Kololi.

Powered by Global Properties, a young dynamic entrepreneur working to make a name for itself in the country's business sector, the international grand event is brought by the courtesy of Afric Afriq Promotions. It will feature some of the Senegambia's renowned stars ranging from rap, mbalax, reggae, dancehall to hip-hop, among others. The objective of the event among other things is to promote and review Christmas celebration by bringing family culture, as well as promote the rich cultural heritage of the country. This upcoming event will feature some of the top finest Senegambian artists, all performing on one stage in the same night.

In an interview with the Daily Observer last Friday, Aziz Willan of Afric Afriq, disclosed that the country's music industry has been stagnant for the past years; thus recycling the same music all times. "So Global Properties in collaboration with AfricAfriq decided to give a new look targeting the generation next by organizing this international mega event, which is an eye opener," he said, According to him, the fragile music industry needs a platform backed with vast experience.

Music, he added has no boundary, that the musical concert will one of the biggest events in 2009. "It is a day of national pride and is 100% Gambian thing," he said while revealing that some top senior government officials will grace the occasion. Haddy Sanneh, a member of the organizing committee said the event will attract Senegambian stars and even beyond. The involvement of finest Senegambian stars, Haddy believes will further pave a way for the development of the country's entertainment industry targeting the next generation. "The Gambian music industry is developing slowly but surely and our target is to take it to another level. This, coupled with our desire to expand to beyond borders will surely materialise," She said while challenging Gambians to be part of the historical musical Jamboree and experience a truly Gambian hospitality.

Some of the stars in the event include Jammo Postive Black Soul, Daara J Family, Carloud D, Fata Fafa Di Amajang, Singateh, Bala Ranks, Tiju b-Peppa House, Mo Hawk, Judgment, Flyin Lion, Da Lyrical Cypha, T-Smallz, Hart Breaker, Royal D Philosophers, Magnificent Joe, Makeda, Jah Micheal, Poetic X, Rougie, African Child, Salaam G, Public Demad, Prince Makaye and DJ's include Jimmy Censi ansd DJ Pa Boy.
