Gambia budgets D15M to kick-start Senegalo-Gambia Secretariat

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, December 21, 2011
The government of The Gambia has budgeted D15M towards the fulfilment of her commitment in the establishment of the Senegalo-Gambia Permanent Secretariat. This was disclosed by the minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mambury Njie while presenting the 2012 Budget before the National Assembly Friday evening.

According to him, this is in fulfilment of the concrete steps taken by the two countries to make sure that the Senegalo-Gambian Permanent Secretariat commences operations within the first quarter of 2012.  “Inline with this commitment, the government of The Gambia has budgeted D15M for 2012, earmarked as contribution by the Gambian side for the commencement of the operations of the Secretariat,” said Minister Njie.
