Gambia featured in international tourist marketFriday, September 25, 2009 The Gambia has once more being featured in the international tourist market, after a British newspaper, the Guardian invited Sandele, a holiday resort in The Gambia, to attend its award winning ceremony to be held in Bankok, Thailand, on September 16, 2009. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Observer on Thursday, 24 September in Fajara, the managing director of Sandele, Geri Mitchell, expressed delight that Sandele has been accorded the opportunity to attend this prestigious ceremony. She said the award is organised by The Guardian newspaper in London every year, that the paper normally asks readers to vote for their best holiday destinations around the world. And through that the newspaper subsequently awards the winner(s). Asked if Sandele will be receiving an award, Geri said that is not made clear to them but they are invited to attend the ceremony. "Who knows, anything can happen," she remarked. The Sandele boss said this goes to show that The Gambia is doing very well in the tourism sector.
