Gambia U17 team arrive in Morocco

The Gambia Under17 side team have arrived Morocco yesterday to begin the defence of their CAF U-17 crown against the Norther African giants.

The Baby Scorpions, who emerged as African champions  in 2009 in Algeria, will face the Moroccans on Saturday, at 10.00pm for the first leg clash in the first round qualifiers for the 2011 CAF African U-17 Championship finals scheduled to take place in Rwanda. Stand-in coach Lamin Sambou, assisted by Interior FC and Samger FC managers Ebrima Manneh and Jane Joof respectively, has selected 18 players mainly from domestic first division clubs for the weekend Saho (Brikama United FC), Adama Sabally (Brikama United FC), Alieu Jatta (Brikama United FC), Modou Jallow (Steve Biko), Fabakary Bojang (Steve Biko FC), Saikou Sidibeh (Steve Biko tie.

The 18-man list, as reported by Gambia Sports, is dominated by  Brikama United who contributed four players to the squad.Bakau giants side Steve Biko have three players, Gamtel, Wallidan, Samger, champions Gambia Ports Authority have two players each, while promoted Africell have contributed one player. In Morocco, the Gambian team will be without the Egyptian coach who guided them to their second continental crown in four years.Tariq Siagy's four-year tour of duty on technical assistance from Egypt ended in July, paving the way for his assistance Lamin Sambo to step in as a caretaker coach.
