Four Gambian children recently returned from Dakar, Senegal where they won five medals at the West African Judo Festival that was held on Saturday the 26th of May 2012.400 fighters competed at the event.

Thefour are; Assan Mailack, Hassan Paziaud, Nurdeen Correa and Samba Paziaud. The team won five medals, one team honours while Hassan Paziaud won silver in the 7 to 8 years, 25kg category.

Speaking to Observer Sports in an exclusive interview this week, Nurdeen Paziaud, the secretary general of the Gambia Judo Association said the 25kg category was the most disputed. He explained that the competition is mainly for West African countries, but some countries outside the sub-region do take part as guests, including France and Italy.
