Gambian artists wrap up performance in Algiers

Africa » Gambia
Monday, July 20, 2009
The group of creative and talented Gambian artists at the ongoing Panaf 2009, last Friday July 17th, staged their final artistic performances in the Algerian capital of Algiers.

The team of artists that ably represented the Republic of  The Gambia at this historic continental cultural festival, scheduled from July 5th to July 20th 2009, was comprised of the Jalamang Jammeh traditional cultural group - led by its founder and coordinator, Fatou Badjie; Oumie Ngum; the Chameleon Music Band;  and a traditional Fula Acrobatic band headed by Lamarana Jallow.

Many who spoke to the Daily Observer's reporter in Algiers, especially participants from other countries, described the Gambian team as excellent.
