Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Dawda Sarr, a Gambian based in Germany, last Thursday donated a mirror detector to the Prisons Department at a presentation ceremony held at the Prisons headquarters at Mile II, along the Banjul-Serrekunda highway. Presenting the gift, Dawda Sarr said the donation is his contribution to the development of the nation.

According to him, security is paramount to any nation, noting that the mirror detector will help the security outfit in the control of vehicles. The mirror detector, he went on, will go a long way in further enhancing national security, especially at the Prisons Department. Sarr urged the beneficiaries to make best use of the instrument, while assuring them of his continuous support to the country’s development goals.

Receiving the gift on behalf of the director general of Prisons Department, Yaya P. Jarju, deputy director of Prisons, expressed delight at the gesture. He described Sarr as a patriotic citizen, while thanking him for the donation. He said the donation would greatly help in the security of the nation. He therefore called on other Gambians abroad to emulate the good gesture of Dawda Sarr. He finally assured that the mirror detector would be used for its intended purpose.
