A Gambian based in Germany has expressed his admiration and satisfaction with the governance style of the president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, and went on to applaud him for the titanic developments in the country.

Sainey Jersey, a native of Gunjur in Kombo South who has lived in Germany for 13 years, was speaking Thursday afternoon at State House in Banjul shortly after his audience with the Gambian leader. He was accompanied to the presidency by the nominated National Assembly member, Honourable Seedy Njie. “I am happy with the way the president is governing our country and it is in appreciation of this that I wrote to him sometime back to congratulate him on the manner he is ruling the nation,” Jersey, who spoke in the local Mandinka dialect stated.

He harped on the strides made by the Gambian leader and the pace of development, citing the road network that links his home village, which he described as impressive. “Every year I come to The Gambia and I observed his developments happening. In 1987 when I came here, if you are traveling from Gunjur to Banjul, you leave there very early in the morning to come here. But even if you arrive in Banjul you have to change clothes because of the bad roads. But now you can drive from Banjul to Gunjur in a very few minutes. So we definitely have no complain against someone doing that,” Jersey concluded.
