GFA fume over illegal adverts![]() Monday, May 25, 2009 The Gambia Football Association have threatened to take legal actions against any institution or individual who uses the GFA logo or pictures of the national teams for commercial purposes without the prior authorisation from the football association. A press statement issued by the national football's governing body has it that the pictures of national teams and GFA logos were displayed on billboards and other paraphernalia all around without prior approval from the football body. According to the release, the names of the institutions/individuals involved have already been listed and forwarded to the GFA solicitors for possible legal actions. In as much as the national teams are national assets, the statement stressed, these [products] must be protected and only use legally to satisfy the best interest of the Gambia and our beautiful game. The full text of the statement, which was signed by the GFA president Seedy Kinteh, reads: "The executive committee of the Gambia Football Association has noticed with utmost dismay the unwarranted use of the GFA logo and its products. In as much as the nationals team are national assets that belong to the nation, these must be protected and only use legally to satisfy the best interest of the Gambia and our beautiful game." "We have seen the pictures of our national teams and the GFA logos on billboards and other paraphernalia displayed all around without prior approval from the Gambia Football Association. The names of these institutions/individuals are listed and forwarded to our solicitors for legal actions." "Thus the Gambia Football Association urges all and sundry to desist from using the GFA logo and / or the pictures of the national teams for all commercials ventures without prior authorization." "We will not hesitate to take actions against any institution and /or individual who illegally uses the GFA logo or pictures of our National teams."
