GFA still silent on MRI results

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, September 17, 2009
The Gambia Football Association is yet to release the results of the  long awaited Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test, to both the players and the general populace.

The national U-17 team and their faithful fans remain in pensive mood as they all curiously await the results of the MRI results conducted last weekend in the Senegalese capital of Dakar. It is reported that the GFA has received the results from the world football governing body (FIFA) yesterday, Wednesday September 16 and are about to sit and discuss the matter which will allow the coaches to select twenty-six players from the fifty  that underwent the test.

The delay in results also affects the preparations of their proposed training camp in the United Kingdom which was to commence tomorrow September 17th. The Senegalese Doctors submited the full report to FIFA who also sent it back to the authorities of The Gambia Football Association. This is meant to reduce the age cheating problems affecting football in the world youth champions.

According to FIFA ,the new  method was introduce to 'protect the integrity' of age-category competition which is mainly dominated by African teams. Meanwhile the national U-17 team is engaged in active training at the independence Stadium as they all keenly await their reults which will only allow twenty-six out of the fifty players to travel to the UK and finally to Nigeria for the world cup due next month.
