Ghana FA chief seeks Seedy Kinteh support

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, August 11, 2010
The president of Ghana Football Association, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, has written to his Gambian counterpart, Mr Seedy Kinteh, thanking him for supporting the Ghana Black Stars during the just concluded World Cup as well as seeking the support of the Gambia football boss in his bid to serve in the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In a one-page letter to the Gambia Football Association president, Mr Nyantakyi, said due to Ghana's contributions towards the development of football in Africa and his personal leadership qualities, the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association, with the backing of Ghana government, has nominated him to contest the position of Member of the Executive Committee of CAF for ZONE WEST B in an election to be held in February 2011 in Sudan. Mr Nyantakyi therefore solicits the support and vote of Mr Kinteh, whom he described as a trusted brother and friend, in his bid for an executive role in the continent's football governing body.

The full text of Mr Nyantakyi letter reads:
"Dear Mr. Kinteh, on behalf of the Ghana Football Association, I wish to thank you most sincerely for supporting the Senior National Football team of Ghana, the Black Stars during the just ended FIFA World Cup in South Africa. I hope you agree with me that the first ever World Cup on African soil was a resounding success.

As you are no doubt aware Ghana played leading role in the just ended 2010 FIFA World Cup as the only team from Africa to reach the round of 16 and the quarter finals of the competition. Once more, Ghana enhanced the position of Africa in World Football by winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009. Besides, we have made other strides by winning Silver at the 2009 CHAN Competition in Ivory Coast and the 2010 African Nations Cup in Angola. We successfully hosted the 2008 African Nations Cup in Ghana.

Based on the contributions of Ghana towards the development of football in Africa and my personal leadership qualities, the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association has nominated me to contest the position of Member of the Executive Committee of CAF for ZONE WEST B to be held in February, 2011 in Sudan. The Government of Ghana has also decided to back my candidacy for the CAF Executive Committee.

As a trusted brother and friend, I wish to solicit your support and vote for the position of Executive Committee Member of CAF for Zone West B.I am a team player and given the opportunity, I hope to offer my expertise and experience towards the development of Football in Africa. Please find attached hereto my Curriculum Vitae for your perusal. I count on your kind cooperation".
