GIEPA co-sponsors Business Boot Camp participants

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, August 02, 2012

The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) has co-sponsored participants currently attending a four-day Business Boot Camp for entrepreneurs, organised by the United States Embassy in Banjul, in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).

The Business Boot Camp, which kicked-off on Tuesday at Relax Sahel Complex, is a mini course which will teach the average entrepreneur how to build a sustainable business using various critical thinking exercises and business frameworks.

The Enterprise Support manager of GIEPA, Lamin Gaye, in his remarks, reminded that GIEPA was established by an act of National Assembly to facilitate investment and promote it both at local and at international level. The Agency, he further explained, supports micro, small and medium enterprises to boost development in this sector, as well as support businesses to increase exports to thewider world.

He stated that GIEPA has decided to sponsor these participants, especially the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs, because they have been involved in what is recognised as the engine of economic growth and a source of wealth generation. Supporting these entrepreneurs he noted, would go a long way in the economic development of the country;especially towards the realisation of the national blue print – Vision 2020.

While assuring of the Agency’s readiness to continue supporting such initiatives, GIEPA’s Enterprise Support manager urged the participants to put into good use what they would have learnt. This, he maintained, would go a long way in boosting their businesses.
