GNA defeats Medical in volleyball tourney

Africa » Gambia
Monday, April 23, 2012

The Gambia National Army Wednesday defeated Medical 2-1 in a volleyball game played at the Basse Youth Centre. The game was part of the ongoing volleyball tournament organised ahead of the 2012 May Day Sports commonly known as ‘Workers Day’ slated for the 1st May at the Basse Koba Kunda Lower Basic School.

The security men dominated most of the game, which is the first game for the new contingent at Basse Barracks that arrived two weeks ago.

In another game, Governor’s Office on Tuesday night defeated Interior 2-1 at the same ground. At the time of filing this report, the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) were also playing with Interior while the GRTS/Gamtel combination team were locking horns with the Gambia National Army.

The teams that have registered to take part in the tournament at the time of preparing this report are: NAWEC, Governor’s Office, Interior, GNA, GRTS/Gamtel, and Medical.
