Governor Seckan receives NBR council of elders

The governor of North Bank Region, Alhagie Eduwarr Seckan, recently received in his office in Kerewan, the council of elders from Ndungu and Jamagen.

The purpose of their visit was to extend the council's Ramadan greetings to the President, His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh and his government. The Chairman of the NBR council of elders, Alhaji Modou Faye of Ndungu, extended Ramadan greetings to the President and urged the people in the region to continue to pray for the President for peace and stability and good health. He also used the occasion to thank President Jammeh for enhancing communication network in the country, citing the completion of Barra-Amdalaye road project as an example. 

He thanked the district chiefs, National Assembly members, Kerewan Area Council and the Governor's Office for their utmost contribution in the maintenance of peace and stability among families in the region. He assured of the council's full commitment in the execution of its function. For his part, Governor Seckan underscored the importance President Jammeh attaches to the establishment of the council of elders with the view of contributing to settling of dispute and inculcating good morale among the youth and families. The governor hailed the efforts of the council of elders in complementing the efforts of the district authorities in the settlement of disputes at grassroots level. He thanked thanked the council for their steadfastness in the promotion of unity and political tolerance among people and communities. 

Governor Seckan finally assured of his office's continuous support in the realisation of the council's objectives towards ensuring mutual understanding and trust among people. Fafanding Kinteh, the chief of Lower Baddibu, applauded the council of elders for complementing the efforts of the district authorities in the settlement of disputes outside the courts. He thanked the president for the foresight in the establishment of such an important body and urged the general public to continue to recognize the efforts of the council in the implementation of their programmes at community levels.
