Friday, September 18, 2009
Alhaji Ganyie Touray, the governor of the Central River Region has expressed gratitude and appreciation to the president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh for giving the people of his region 3000 bags of sugar as Ramadan gifts.

In an interview with our Janjangbureh correspondent in his office, Governor Touray said the donation manifests the love and care President Jammeh has for the people of this country. He called on his people to always support President Jammeh noting that with all hands on deck, there is a brighter future.

On the significance of Ramadan, Governor Touray said whoever assists mankind especially during this holy month, will be rewarded by Allah the Almighty with good things here and hereafter. He said that the gifts are highly appreciated, adding that it has helped the needy. He took the opportunity to remind the elders that it is their duty to advise the communities to come together as one family and ensure the maintenance of peace, love and mutual understanding. According to him, without such, there will not be any development.

The governor then announced that the sugar donated by the president has been distributed equally to the people. Biran Baldeh, the chief of Upper Fulladou who spoke on behalf of the chiefs in the region, thanked President Jammeh for the gesture. He said President Jammeh is a leader who leads by example and that The Gambia is very lucky to have such a leader. He commended and prayed for the Gambian leader for Almighty Allah to shower his blessings on him, his family, government and the entire population of The Gambia.
