Governor Touray, others hail Kinza Jawara

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, February 25, 2010
The governor of the Central River Region (CRR), Alhaji Ganyie Touray, and the Lamin Koto Badala Mosque Committee have hailed Kinza Jawara, daughter to a prominent Gambian businessman, Basirou Jawara, for donating D33, 000 for the construction of a mosque at the Lamin Koto ferry-crossing point in Sami District, CRR north.

The governor Touray described Kinza Jawara as a true and patriotic citizen who has contributed immensely to the development of her nation. He spoke about the importance of the mosque, saying that it will accord the travellers and residents of the area to worship Allah at anytime relevant. He advised the people living in the area to take proper care of the mosque and called on others to emulate her.

The chairman of the mosque committee, Samba Bah, commended the donor for her benevolent gesture, describing it as timely. He revealed that the donation was done through Oustass Muhammed Jah of the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council and   informed that the construction of the mosque is now completed and that people have started praying in it. "Whoever spends his or her wealth on worshiping Allah, he or she will have a good reward," Bah remarked and then revealed that a management committee was established for the proper upkeep of the mosque.
