GPA pile pressure on leaders Gamtel

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, February 16, 2010
Coach Peter Bonu Johnson's Gambia Ports Authority side now only have a goal separating them from leaders Gamtel after a convincing 2-1 win over Brikama United, while Real de Banjul, Wallidan and Interior all strolled to their first wins of the season as Week Six fixtures in the Gambia First Division league wrapped up on Sunday.

Pace-setters Gamtel had dropped points earlier on Saturday after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Real de Banjul.
The setback, which was Gamtel's first defeat in six games, was a perfect chance for both Steve Biko and Ports Authority to climb to the summit  on Sunday, albeit it was the Ferry Boys who made the most of the chances, as Steve Biko were dumped 2-1 by struggling Wallidan who were without a win in five matches.

On the same Sunday, Ebrima Manneh's Interior FC who drew their opening five matches rubbed more salt into Sang Ndong-led Hawks's injury after a 2-1 win. With the win, Interior have now moved up to fourth position in the 12-team table, while Hawks remain at the bottom with no win in six matches.
