GRTS initiates business forum

Africa » Gambia
Friday, January 08, 2010
The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) Basse branch, has introduced a new programme called ‘Business Forum’ to its weekly radio broadcast schedule.

The new programme will provide a forum for interaction among people in the business sector, and experts are optimistic that it would contribute to the fostering of a congenial business environment within Basse and environs. Speaking to the Daily Observer’s URR correspondent, Nuha Badjie, manager of the radio programmes in GRTS Basse said the business forum is slated to be on air for one hour every Sunday from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Describing the programme as the first of its kind to be aired by GRTS Basse, Badjie said the programme is basically aimed at targeting businesses in the market as well as create business mechanisms for the station in the Upper River Region.

He observed that Basse is a business centre and that the forum will attract investors from different areas, as GRTS in Basse is a powerful station with its signals being received, and programmes heard, outside the country’s borders, as far as countries such as Senegal, (Casamance), Guinea Bissau, and Guinea Conakry. “As the manager of the radio I believe that this programme will really boost our business and revenue system,” he said. While thanking the listeners and customers of the radio, Badjie stated that it belongs to every Gambian and that investing on it implies that one is doing it for his/her own benefit. He finally urged every Gambian to be amenable to the station as it serves the interests of the nation.
