GSSS, SUBS crowned national inter-school champions

The Gambia Senior Secondary and Sukuta Upper Basic Schools, were recently, awarded giant trophies and cash prizes of D10,000 and D8,000 respectively as champions in the just concluded national inter-school athletic championship at a presentation ceremony held at the National Olympic House in Mile 7, Bakau.

St Augustine's/St Joseph's Senior Secondary and Gunjur Upper Basic Schools, were also handed D6,000 and D5,000 respectively as runners up. The award to the senior secondary school's category was sponsored by Trust Bank, while the Upper Basic School category award was courtesy of the Gambia Secondary Schools Sports Association (GSSSA).

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Martin Gomez, president of the Gambia Secondary Schools Sports Association spoke on the importance of sports in human life. He denounced the idea that sports can disturb one's educational career. He commended Trust Bank for their contribution to the development of sports in the country.
