Gunjur maintain unbeaten run

africa » gambia » gunjur
Monday, December 22, 2008
Gunjur continue their unbeaten record in the on-going Muhammeh Yahya Jammeh Zonal Championships with a 1-1 draw against Serrekunda West in the final Group A clash on Saturday.

Touted as this year's element of surprise, Gunjur, entered the weekend clash al-ready qualified, while Serrekunda West needed the three points to join them as runners up regardless of what happened between Bakau and Sukuta in group's other match at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.

Despite having nothing to lose however, it was the Gunjur side who made their opponents to struggled for an equaliser rather a winner when they opened the score in the early minute. The SK West side's equaliser before the break, was however seen as the last goal of the night.

With Bakau scoring a late winner against Sukuta in the other end, the draw result fell short of sparing Serrekunda West from crashing out at the group stage.
As Group A winners, Gunjur, face in the semi-fina, he Group B runners, which was to be decided last night.
