Gunjur SO to appear in court

africa » gambia
Thursday, March 05, 2009
The Brikama Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrates Pa Harry Jammeh, on Thursday 5 February wrote to the station officer of Gunjur Police Station to appear before the court to shed light on the Muhammed Ahmed criminal case.

The invitation came after the counsel for the accused, Borry Touray, told the court that when the dispute erupted Muhammed Ahmed was seriously beaten by the complainants but when he reported the matter at Gunjur Station, the Police never gave consideration to the complaint, instead they charged him with criminal offence leaving those who dealt with him.

But the Prosecution denied that allegation, noting that the police are professional in their Job and when a case is reported they know who should be charged. The magistrate at that juncture said that the court would adjourn the case in order to invite the station officer to shed light on the counsel's allegation
