Gunjur Sports Committee holds congress

The Gunjur Sports Committee on Sunday held its congress at Gunjur Upper Basic School, during which the executive committee that has been steering the affairs with regards to sports for the past eight years was dissolved and a new executiveelected.


The new executive that will steer the affairs of the committee for the next three years has Foday Jabang as its new president. He succeedsBuba Bada Bojang.


Addressing the congress, Ousman Jammeh on behalf of the outgoing secretary general revealed that the committee faced a lot of financial and human constraints especially with regards to the leagues. According to him, they carried out their activities with the little resources tapped from Nawettan gate takings, registration of teams and donations.


On the achievements registered by the committee, Jammeh told the congress delegates that the outgoing committee had embarked on capacity building training for coaches in Gunjur and also sent two delegates for a beach soccer course organised by the Gambia Football Association.


For his part, Foday Jabang assured the congress of his committee’s dedication in moving Gunjur sports to another level, while urging members of the executive to work as a team during their tenure.


The new executive members are Foday Jabang, president; Lamin Bojang, 1st vice president; Alieu Jatto, 2nd vice president; Bunama Cham; secretary General; Ousman Jammeh, assistant secretary general; Nuha Barrow, Treasurer; Omar N Darboe, Assistant Treasurer; Ebrima Jammeh, Auditor; Buba Star Janneh, Public Relations Officer; and Lamin Darboe, Assistant Public Relations Officer.
