Sunday, March 08, 2009
Reports reaching the Daily Observer have revealed that Corporal Ensa Tamba, an officer of The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services, was in the early hours of Sunday found hanging on a tree between Yundum Kansala and Bafuloto, in Kombo North, Western Region.

According to reputable sources, the rope from which the deceased body hung was tied to his neck. The deceased's feet were also said to be approximately 45cm off the ground. Our sources further revealed that when the body of the deceased was searched by police officers at the scene, a national identity card bearing the name Ensa Tamba, a warrant card, Nokia mobile phone and a voter's card were discovered.

The body was taken to the Banjulinding Health Centre and later transferred to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital's Mortuary in Banjul. When contacted, SO Alhagie Secka, public relations officer of The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services, confirmed that the dead man was indeed Corporal Ensa Tamba. According to PRO Secka, the cause of Tamba's death is yet to be established but investigations are in progress.
