Health officer needs urgent helpTuesday, December 08, 2009 Amadou A Sowe, a staff of the Medical and Health Department, aged fourty and a resident of Bakau, is in urgent need of assistance for overseas treatment. According to a medical report from the country’s main referral centre, the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in Banjul, Sowe has passed medical history of arterial hypertension and was reviewed by internal medicine consultant, following his complain of having severe headache, which led to his sudden collapse. The report stated that there is intraparenchymatous hepatoma of 6.06cm of tubular shape in the right frontal lobe paradagital that produce displacement of 0.45cm middle line structure to left side and drainage of large amount of blood to ventricular cystic more actuated in the left central ventricle and sellor cistern. The origin CT Scan, stated that there is a big aneurysm of 1.89x 0.97cm in the projection of the left anterior communicant artery with large amount of blood in the ventricular system. “Sowe needs to be reviewed by neurosurgeon and he should perform vascular brain intervention, this procedure is not available in The Gambia, he needs overseas treatment,” the report indicated. According to his brother, Ablie Sowe, his family cannot afford to pay for his treatment overseas, and as a result, he is appealing to the president of the Republic of The Gambia and his government, institutions, NGOs, phillanthropists, religious leaders and individuals to help his brother.
