Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Ellen Medenvcend, a Dutch woman, last Saturday made a donation of five hundred Euros to the people of Siffoe, through the Rural Poor Association of The Gambia, at a presentation ceremony held at the Siffoe Health Centre in Kombo South.

The Rural Poor Association of The Gambia is a registered group based in Siffoe. Speaking at the ceremony, Bajanko Jabang, chairman of the Siffoe Village Development Committee thanked the donor for the gesture. According to him, the donation will go a long way in helping them to upgrade their health centre.

Kalifa Kanteg, a member of the Rural Poor Association said they hope to expand their activities to surrounding villages.
For her part, the donor noted that success can only be attained when people are united and committed. She urged the beneficiaries to make the maximum use of the money.

Sonna Sawo, who spoke on behalf of the women of the village thanked the donor for the gesture.
