HIV/Aids treatment resumes today

The president of the Republic will today start the treatment of the 7th batch of HIV/Aids patients of the President’s Alternative Treatment Programme (PATP) at 10:00am at State House in Banjul.


His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh is expected to treat 76 HIV/Aids patients for the 7th batch of the PATP, Dr. Tamsir Mbowe, the director general of the PATP told the Daily Observeryesterday.


According to him, a proper screening was done on all the patients before they were taken in the 7th batch. He said the screening process took them [PATP] three weeks, during which, CT Scanning, blood sample test, CD 4 & viral loads, LFTs, BUE & CR were all done on the patients. Dr. Mbowe finally disclosed that they currently have 34 patients on the waiting list.
