Hon. Nyang gives out Ramadan gift

Africa » Gambia
Friday, August 27, 2010
Hon. Babucarr Nyang, the National Assembly member for Banjul South Constituency yesterday presented 60 bags of sugar as Ramadan gift to the people of his constituency at a presentation ceremony held at his residence in Banjul.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Nyang said that the gesture is part of his annual Ramadan gift to the people of his constituency. Ramadan, he said, is a month during which Muslims should share the little they have among themselves. "Assisting the people of my constituency is another way of complementing the efforts of The Gambia government," he said.

Hon. Nyang added that for them [he and his constituents] to achieve their goals, they should work as a team for the betterment of the country. According to him, since he is elected to represent the people of the Banjul South Constituency, their welfare is paramount in his agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Matarr Ndow, a resident of Banjul South, thanked Hon. Nyang for the gesture. He said Hon. Nyang is doing what is expected of him. "We elected him and he did not fail us, we are proud of him, we will continue to work with him for the development of the constituency and the APRC party,"he stated. Ndow finally called on the people of Banjul South to come together as one and emulate Hon. Nyang.
