Human trafficking case resumesMonday, March 08, 2010 The ongoing human trafficking case filed in against one Ostohagbon otherwise called Mr Saturday, a Nigerian national, last Thursday, March 4th resumed before Magistrate Abubacarr Secka of the Bundung Magistrates Court.
The sitting was characterised by receipt of evidence from One Rita Osaro, the 20-year-old victim and a Nigerian national. She informed the court that she is a student who fell victim to the accused through her aunt while on a visit to Nigeria few months ago. According to the victim, her aunt told her that her visa was out and she should collect it from one Mr Fredick. I met with Fredick at one of the Parks in Edo State where I am from. He asked me to wait for the second victim, Sintia, who will join us to Europe via Lagos. We spent three weeks in Lagos but my aunt insisted that Fredick will gave us visa despite the long stay in Lagos with no sign of flight arrangement. A Nigerian passport given to me with a picture of someone whom he said looks like me and I should use it. We later left for Togo then to Mali, where we were handed over to the accused, Mr Ostohabon, alias Saturday, the witness explained and recalled been raped and impregnated by the accused and detained at the Mali International Airport by security officers on the ground that the passport did not belong to her. We came to Senegal in the vehicle of the accused to his house where I was treated like a slave. The accused at one time made me call my aunt and tell her that I was in Spain, which was not the truth. The following day we came to The Gambia and were lodged at the Senegambia Beach Hotel for three weeks. While at the Hotel the accused gave my passport to an unknown man and later took me to the Banjul International Airport accompanied by his Gambian girlfriend, who advised me to be careful with the accused, as she put it, the accused once brought some girls from Nigeria to The Gambia on the pretext that he would take them to Europe, but dumped them here knowing that the police were looking for him.
