Wednesday, September 02, 2009
A convict at the Brikama Magistrates Courts has told Magistrate Forster that he stole because he wanted to get money to pay for his school fees in the next academic year.

Bubacarr Mboge made this pronouncement on Tuesday, September 2009, while pleading for mitigation, after he was found guilty of stealing. The convict said he wants to go back to school but has nobody to pay his fees. However, the prosecuting officer, Sub-Inspector Jammeh informed the court that the convict is a habitual offender.

The convict was then sentenced to 1 year 6 months on each of the two counts for which he had been charged. According to the facts of the case, Babucarr Mboge, stole speakers and a motor battery from a motor vehicle belonging to one Abdou Kujabi but ran out of luck and was subsequently arrested by officers from the Wellingara Police Station. He has another pending criminal case before the same court, which was adjourned to September 8, 2009.
