I will pursue my education if released - Says convictWednesday, December 30, 2009
One Mawdo Manneh, an appellant has told Justice Joseph Wowo of the High Court in Banjul that if released, he intends to pursue his education.
The appellant was convicted and sentenced by the Brikamaba Magistrates Court on May 16, 2006 on seven counts of stealing, house breaking and shop breaking. The appellant was sentenced to serve 5 years and 10 months imprisonment in all the counts and in his appeal, he told the court that he was a student and had stopped schooling because of his imprisonment. He is asking the High Court to release him so that he can continue his education. The appellant promised the court that he would never be involved in such acts again. The presiding judge, Justice Joseph Wowo told the appellant that the community is at peace since he was incarcerated, but if released and continue terrorising his community, he would be sorry for his life when he is arraigned before him. Justice Wowo advised the appellant to make good use of his youthful life. The case was adjourned to January 28, 2010. Author: by Sidiq Asemota
