Imam Tafsir Gaye gives out Ramadan gifts

Imam Alhaji Tafsir Gaye of Banjul, last Sunday, September 6th 2009, distributed sugar and rice to the needy and poor on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The items distributed to the Arabic schools (Daraas) in Banjul and the Muslim community came through the support of Africell, Gamcel, Hasib Massry, the Lebanese Consulate in The Gambia, Alhagi Modou Bawo, Salman Enterprise, Muslim Hands, George Madi and the Lebanese community in The Gambia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Imam Gaye thanked Allah for the day. He also thanked the private institutions and individuals for their support. He further thanked the Gambian leader, His Excellency, Sheikh Professor  Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, who always encourages and take the lead in sharing with the needy particularly in the month of Ramadan.

Alieu Mbaye, who represented the State House mosque, thanked Imam Gaye for the kind gesture and prayed for his long life. He then appealed to the business community to lower the prices of the various basic commodities to help the needy.
