Immigration poised to decentralise new ID system![]() Monday, September 14, 2009 Cadet Inspector Lamin K Manneh, the Public Relation officer of the Gambia Immigration Department, has said that they are working hard to make sure that the issuing of the new biometric identity cards system is available countrywide. In an interview with the Daily Observer last Thursday, PRO Manneh appealed to the public to be patient noting that the management of the Immigration Department is busy putting on mechanisms for the identity cards to be available nationwide. According to him, at the moment, the identity cards are issued only at the Immigration headquarters in Banjul adding that this new system involves technology; thus, cannot be decentralised over night. PRO Manneh then disclosed that there are special people who are handling the issuing of the new ID cards and management is very much proud of them. He called on the public to cooperate with the officers in charge. Author: by Modou Kanteh | Media Actions |
