In Gamcotrap case: Amie Bojang-Sissoho continues defenceWednesday, February 08, 2012 Amie Bojang-Sissoho, the programme co-ordinator of Gamcotrap on Tuesday continued her defence testimony in the criminal involving the state against her and the executive director of the same organisation, before the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Taiwo Ade Alagbe. Continuing her testimony, Amie Bojang-Sissoho told the court
that she met Deniel Gidens in May 2010 when the 2009 project was ready and the
said Deniel was introduced to her by the executive director of Yolocamba. She added that he (Deniel) came to run
a micro-credit project but (Gamcotrap) did not sign any document on micro-credit
project. According to her, the last time she met with Deniel was during the investigation and they were interrogated. She further revealed that Exhibit Al is an email sent by Omar Dibba to Jone Rasaroso and defence between Omar Dibba addressed to the Yolocamba director but only defence Exhibits 3 and 4 were copied to her and these are the only typical emails from Gamcotrap. She stated that the first to sixth prosecution witnesses were not treated with any difference because as they (Gamcotrap) are women’s right activists, they do not discriminate against any woman. She informed the court that after the dropping of the knives celebration in Basse, every circumciser was given a cash amount of D3, 000 and extra money for her transport fare and their delegates. She further informed the court that Yolocamba was fully informed about all these payments because they submitted a financial report after the project. Amie Bojang disclosed that there was another project
proposal of D10 million to extend the first project and this, she said, was
sent in 2009 and a copy of the said project proposal was given to the
investigators, stressing that this project was not a micro-credit project. She highlighted that they (Gamcotrap) are women’s right
activists and cannot deal with micro-credit project. Bojang-Sissoho further disclosed that the said D10 million project was not even signed by Gamcotrap after it was approved because the director of Yolocamba came with the agreement written in Spanish and the executive director of Gamcotrap requested for her (the Yolocama director) to translate it into English for Gamcotrap to understand what to sign and the Yolocamba director promised to bring it during her next visit in the month of February 2010 but she did not. Amie Bojang-Sissoho then identified IDC as a form format sent by Yolocamba to Gamcotrap to use it in its financial report and the said IDC was admitted in evidence and marked as defence exhibit 16. At that juncture, the case was adjourned to 20th February 2012 for continuation of defence. Author: Fatou Sowe | Media Actions See Also |
