In police obstruction trial, prosecution closes case

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
The ongoing criminal trial of obstruction involving eight Ebo Town youths, on Monday resumed at the Kanifing magistrate court presided over by the senior magistrate Abdoulie Mbake.

When the case was called, Cadet Inspector Mballow informed the court that the last prosecution witness was not in court and that he wished to close his case. At that juncture, the presiding magistrate Abdoulie Mbake gave the accused persons two options of either to open their defence at that juncture or be given ample time to prepare for their defence. The accused persons in respond told the court that they want to be given ample time to prepare for their defence.

According to prosecution, the accused persons Kebba Kinteh, Kabba Conteh Kinteh, Pa Musa Njoke, Ousman Sajo, Alpha Jawo, Ansumana Sillah, Yusupha Faal and Cherno Gomez, on the 13th of August 2009, at Ebo Town obstructed four police officers while in due execution of their duty.
