Isha Fofana, renowned Gambian artist,  proprietress and coordinator of Mama Africa Art Gallery in  Brusubi, recently presented two of her  beautiful paintings to the National Museum, at a ceremony held at the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in Banjul.

The paintings where handed over to Modou Joof, director of the National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC). The two paintings depicts Gambia's tradition and culture. One of the paintings called "Yaboyee" illustrated an old woman and her children sitting beside a fire narrating stories to them and the other called "Helper" showcased a female family head extending helping hands to the less privilege in society.

Presenting the items, Isha Fofana, the Gambian female artist interpreted each of the paintings to the audience. Nancy Njie, secretary of state for Tourism and Culture hailed the efforts of Isha Fofana describing the paintings as wonderful and inspiring. The Tourism secretary of state urged her to keep up the momentum and called on others, especially Gambian artists, to emulate her. She expressed optimism that the donated artistic works would serve the National Museum and the NCAC in particular, noting that the NCAC is frequently visited.

Joerg Uete, the Gambian Counsular in Germany said Isha Fofana is a true ambassador of The Gambia in Germany, where she resides for the past couple of years and worked as a professional artist. According to him, during his stay in Germany, Isha Fofana held series of art exhibitions in Germany and other European countries. "She opened an art gallery in Germany called Mama Africa. The gallery potrait her love for the world of arts and commitment to the profession. She is a very creative and committed artsit" Mr Joerg explained. Siaka Federa, Secretary to the organising commitee of the International Roots Festival chaired the occasion.
