Friday, February 10, 2012

Jaliba Kuyateh, a renowned Gambian musician, who is also Unicef’s Goodwill ambassador, on behalf of the Kombo Sillah Gambia Association based in the United Kingdom and one Saihou Jammeh, a Gambian-based in Spain, Wednesday presented 20 chairs, two cartons of medical items and nurses’ uniforms to the AFPRC General Hospital in Farafenni, North Bank Region (NBR).

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the office of the director of Health Services in Banjul, Jaliba Kuyateh said he was able to mobilise the gifts for the health sector during his tour in the Diaspora, adding that they are part of his contribution towards the health sector.

He disclosed that plans are underway for him to organise a fundraising for the AFPRC General Hospital in Farafenni. He also disclosed that a Pharmacy has been named after him at the Hospital.

For his part, Dr. Mamady Cham, director of Health Services at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, thanked Jaliba Kuyateh, the Kombo Sillah Gambian Association and Saihou Jammeh for their contribution towards the health sector. He urged others to emulate the gesture.

Alhagie Saine, chief executive officer of the AFPRC General Hospital , also assured the donors that the materials donated would be put into good use.
