JAYS drama group members receive training

The Juffureh, Albreda Youth Society (JAYS), a non-governmental organisation in collaboration with the Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) on Saturday began a two-day training on good governance, human rights and the constitution among others for the Juffureh, Albreda Youth Society drama group at Juffureh in Upper Niumi.

The drama group, after the training is expected to embark on community sensitisation through drama in order to educate the people in Upper Niumi on these important topics.Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mamadi Faal, executive secretary of JAYS, said that 17 participants are taking part in the training. He said the facilitators are drawn from the national council for civic education and KMC community service unit. He described the training as very important. He thanked the government for its  foresight on national development under the leadership of president Jammeh and also CDDP for the support in making the training a success. Faal, reminded the drama group of what is expected of them,about  which he said, is to sensitise other communities. He finally urged them to take the training seriously.

For his part, Lamin Ceesay, head of the drama group, said that the training is not the first of its kind as they attended a similar one last year. He disclosed that the group each year embarked on sensitisation campaign on TB, HIIV/Aids and malaria.He said the training will equip them before they go out to the wider community. He thanked CDDP for the support.Aja Tako Taal and Kebba Sira Jatta, alkalos of Juffureh and Albreda respectively urged the group to maintain the cordial relationship that exists among them. They also thanked CDDP for collaborating with JAYS in holding the training.
