JFYA thanks President Jammeh

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, July 10, 2012

The Jammeh Family Youths Association (JFYA) Monday met the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs, Her Excellency Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy at her office at State House to express their gratitude to the Gambian leader for the support he has been rendering to the Association.

Speaking to reporters shortly after an audience with the vice president, Musa Mendy, the adviser and adapted father of the Association explained that they purposely came to State House to pay tribute and salute His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh for all the assistance and support he has been rendering to the Association.

He recalled that during the 2011 presidential tour, the president gave them the sum of D100, 000, which they used to engage in some petty trading. “So we came here to say thank you to the president for the assistance,” he said.  Mendy revealed that with the money the Gambian leader gave them, the Association was able to raise more funds, develop its constitution, while saving some in the bank. “This is what we came to inform the vice president about,” he added.

He said that the Association has now been organised in a way that it has has the potential to engage its members in something that would be meaningful to their future. He finally hinted that in the long run the monies generated would be given out to the members as soft loans with very minimal interest.
