Jokadu chief commends Kerr Jarga residents

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Alhaji Jim Fatma Jobe, chief of Jokadu district, has commended the people of Kerr Jarga Jobe village for cultivating 4 hectares of sesame for President Jammeh, in the North Bank Region.

The objective behind this move, according to the district chief, is to complement the efforts of the president in his humanitarian services in assisting the poor. The chief made this remark during an interview with this reporter in Kerr Jarga Jobe Village. Chief Jim Fatma Jobe thanked the people of Jokadu for their invaluable contribution to the socio-economic development of the country and for responding to the president's back-to-the-land call. He assured that his people would continue to cultivate farms for the president on yearly basis to support his treatment programme.

The Jokadou chief used the opportunity to congratulate President Jammeh on the occasion of the 15th anniversay of the July 22nd Revolution, which, he said, has registered numerous developments in the country. Chief Jobe urged the people of Jokadu to continue rallying behind the APRC party for developments.

He finally commended the Community Skills Improvement Project and Community Driven Development Project for intervening in his district and village to alleviate poverty. He called on the beneficiary communities of the CDDP  to utilise the skills gained from the project.
