Junior K: one of the Gambia's reggae sensations

Friday, July 16, 2010
Junior King is another Gambian reggae dancehall ace currently based in Germany.

The reggae singer who hails from Kololi Village, where reggae is much loved by the youth in the area, is one of the youngest Gambian reggae artistes in recent years. His inspiration comes from his mum who was a church singer."My inspiration to play music was from God. In addition to that, my mother who was herself a choir singer also had an influencing effect on me. Initially, when I was going to school my ambition was to become a medical doctor. However, the dramatic change of heart to become a musician instead was like receiving a spiritual message from God making me to become the voice of the voiceless" he told his official site.

According to reports, it during the time he was going to school, the star fell in love with music to the extent that whenever he is inside the classroom, he always beat the classroom's tables with few of his friends and start spontaneous reggae singing and chanting, which gained him the title of the most stubborn student in his school.
