Kiang Jali holds 15th Annual Gamo

Jali villagein theKiang WestDistrict of the Lower River Region (LRR) on Saturday held its 15th annualGamo. The annual Gamo started in 1998, and it brings together descendants of the village living outside the region, especially in the satellite villages, the Kombos, thesub-region and also non-Gambians.
The elders and youths spent the whole day reciting the holy Quran and upon completion, everyone converged on the village central mosque for prayers. At night, people also gathered at the village bantaba to listen to sermons given by several scholars who attended the occasion while others sang Islamic songs. Various preachers spoke at length on the importance of the Islamic faith and how Muslims should act and comport themselves in the eyes of God.
