Kiang West, East chiefs firedThursday, August 12, 2010 Lamin Waa Juwara, the governor of the Lower River Region (LRR) has confirmed to the Daily Observer that Alhaji Momodou Njie, the chief of Kiang West has been relieved of his position with immediate effect. In the same vein, Governor Juwara also confirmed the appointment yesterday of Alhaji Omar Gibba, a native of Mandina in Kiang West District as the new chief. In another development, Kebuteh Jassey, a native of Kolior was yesterday inaugurated as the new chief of Kiang East, replacing Ansumana Sanneh, the former chief who is currently standing trial at the Mansakonko Magistrates Court.
