KMC gives free medical insurance to labourers and supervisors

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) yesterday gave free medical insurance to its labourers and supervisors  covered by Takaful Insurance Company.

Speaking to reporters shortly after receiving the insurance cover, Alhaji Sarro Bojang, head of the labourers of KMC, thanked the president, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh and prayed for his long life and good health to continue to lead the country all the way. He explained: "We came here on behalf of the labourers of KMC to express our gratitude to Mayor Yankuba Colley," whom he said is very supportive and caring to them.

Bojang also prayed for the mayor and the staff of the council to excel in the execution of their duties. He informed that in the mid of every month the council pays the labourers their salaries in time thanks to the effort of the mayor. Alhajie Omar Baldeh, a labourer at KMC, also thanked the President Jammeh for giving them Yankuba Colley as their mayor, saying Colley is a hard working man, who has united the people of KMC.

Pa Kalifa Sanyang, public relations officer of KMC, said that this is the first time that the labour force is benefiting from  such a gesture and that the Lord Mayor Yankuba Colley has been very instrumental in that regard.
