Kombo North celebrates President Jammeh's professorship award

The APRC wing of kombo north and party supporters, over the weekend, organized thanks-giving prayers and appreciation rally in honor of the Professorship award confered on President Jammeh.
On Friday, prayers were held at various mosques across the country, while a grand rally was held on Saturday, at the Lamin Football Field. Saturday's event, which was preceded by a march pass that began at Banjulnding and ended up at the venue of the mass rally, was presided over by Her Excellency Ajaratou Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and secretary of state for Women's Affairs, and also present at the occasion were the speaker of the National Assembly, the Chief Justice, secretaries of state, National Assembly members, and other high profile dignitaries.
Thousands of jubilant supporters and admirers of the party converged on the football field, which was filled to capacity. The event, according to its organizers, was conceived as a show of appreciation and pride, by the people of the constituency, for the professorship award conferred on the Gambian leader and the rapid development being enjoyed by the people of the country in general, and the people of Kombo North in particular.
In her keynote address, the vice president, HE Ajaratou Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, thanked the people of the district for what she described as an innovative idea. She stated that the move was surprising even though Kombo North has always been on the frontline when it comes to supporting President Jammeh and the APRC party.
According to her, President Jammeh is naturally gifted. She cited the Gambian leader's work on treatment of numerous diseases. She went on to remind the gathering of the president's numerous development undertakings, and his expressed intention to turn Gambia into a city state. VP Njie-Saidy went further to highlight the achievements of the president in the treatment of diseases that were hitherto considered incurable, notably HIV/AIDs. She also pointed to the incredible result of the president's infertility treatment.
Dr Njie-Saidy reminded the gathering that the election is just 3 years away, and she expressed hope that Kombo North would maintain their position, likewise other parts of the country. She urged the people of the district to continue supporting the APRC party "as many things are in the pipeline." She promised the meeting that all concerns raised and presents issued will reach the president.
Hon. Adama Cham, National Assembly Member for Kombo North, said the purpose of the event was to show appreciation for the honorary Professorship conferred on the president for his selfless contribution, commitment and success in the treatment of diseases hitherto deemed untreatable, and also for his service to humanity, in addition to the rapid socio-economic development and transformation the country has experienced. According to Hon. Cham, the event is not only to demonstrate his constituency's pride and appreciation for the Gambian leader, but also to reaffirm their unflinching support to his leadership and APRC party. He used the opportunity to appeal to the president, through the secretary of state for Local Governments and Lands, to upgrade Kombo North into a municipality of its own. He thanked his people and the entire Western Region as well as the people of KMC for gracing the occasion.
For her part, Hon. Tina Faal, nominated National Assembly member, who is the chairperson of the organizing committee, thanked the people of Kombo North for having answered to their call. She described the day as a day of celebrations and reflection of a previously impossible achievement. According to her, President Jammeh's name and effort has become a household name in the Gambia.
Raising her voice, the honourable member said: "President Jammeh is the only president we want." She promised that come next election, Gambians will set another record as the people are set to re-elect president Jammeh with a landslide victory. She assured the Gambian leader that Gambian women are behind him both day and night.
Alhaji Demba Sanyang, Paramount Chief of The Gambia, welcomed the gathering. He described the day as a day of honour and respect for all Gambians. He said the award conferred on President Jammeh is in no small measure. The Paramount Chief of the The Gambia assured the gathering that the people of Kombo North are fully and wholly behind President Jammeh. He said that his people are united and that they speak with one voice. "Come next election Kombo North will go no oppose," he vowed.
Other speakers at the occasion included Lamin Sanneh, Governor of Western Region, Aja Rohey Touray, Kombo North Women Mobilizer and Alkalo Mbemba Bojang. The ceremony was punctuated by performances of various cultural groups, including "Kabakel".
There is no doubt that President Jammeh has not only revolutionized Traditional Medicine, but also he has proven to the whole world that Africa and Africans have a potential that can be of great benefit to the rest of humanity.
